The Youth Temperance Council is a division of the National Woman’s Christian Temperance Union and the Loyal Temperance Legion is too.
PURPOSE
The Purpose of the Youth Temperance Council is to unite the young people of the community, state, and nation in a program of Christian citizenship, to build for total abstinence for the individual and sobriety for the nation.
MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS Signing of the pledge and payment of Yearly Dues
PLEDGE I promise, by the help of God, never to use alcoholic beverages, other narcotics or tobacco, and to encourage everyone else to do the same, fulfilling the command, “keep thyself pure.”
DUES PAYMENT Console the state WCTU for the amount of dues in your state.
MOTTO A Good Time with a Purpose COLORS Royal Blue and White FLOWER White Carnation STATEMENT OF POLICY The Youth Temperance Council is an interdenominational organization, striving to maintain the highest ideal of Christian living among its members. Our desire is to offend none. Neither are we condoning nor condemning practices of individual members acting alone or with other groups. However for activities under the sponsorship of the Youth Temperance Council we refrain from wearing short shorts and from dancing. Let us exert all our energy and influence in the promotion of total abstinence and Christian behavior among all the youth of our nation. |
